Information for Teachers

To ensure JK-Grade 8 student safety online, and to make a project with 5,000,000 students even possible, project accounts will only be provided to elementary teachers working in official educational systems in Canada. This includes Public, Catholic, Separate, Independent, Private, Federal, and FN Reserve Schools, as well as Alternative Education programs such as hospital education programs.

An official school board email address will be required to register to participate in this project.

Registration will open in the late fall of 2016, with the interactive map opening for contributions when the project begins officially on January 1st 2017.

To receive a direct email to receive project updates and advance notice of Registration opening, please sign up on our Mailing List.

We’ve been receiving inquiries from High School teachers interested in knowing if they can participate in this project as well, of if there is a project like this available for high school students. Strictly speaking, the answer is: not that we’re aware of.

One option is for your high school students to work with younger students in a feeder school nearby. Their leadership and one-on-one assistance in the technical end of content creation would be very valuable to so many elementary children — and their teachers!

The Digital Human Library is open to connect and serve Canadian teachers from K-12, so another option would be to use this to connect with others and create your own project to suit your students’ interests and needs.
