Objectives/ Learning Goals: To celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of communities across Canada
Activity Description: What are you and your students doing to celebrate Canada’s 150 years as a modern nation? At the same time, how are you recognizing and addressing the historic injustices imposed on the Indigenous people who were here before Canada was “born”.? How can we honour both?
This week, we’re inviting your students to share WHAT and HOW they are celebrating in your community this year – whether you’re celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday, the culture and achievements of the First Nation, Metis, and Inuit people, or both.
Please send your students’ photographs to firstname.lastname@example.org, or post them on Twitter using the hashtag #akgtcSA **
While we encourage any and every idea, please be sure to keep student identities (faces and names) out of SA pictures!
