Activity Description
This week’s challenge asks your students to take a picture of something significant in your community/town/city/hamlet/reserve, etc. that has your area’s name on it! If your students live in a city, what is the neighbourhood community around the school called? Does it have a name? Check a map! How do people know they’re in the right neighbourhood? Whether it’s a street-sign, poster, landmark, object, statue, etc., challenge your students to Welcome Canada to their local home community.
Ask your students to share or send these photographs to you. Then, have the class collaborate on selecting the photograph that best welcomes visitors to your community. Share this photo on their behalf, and help them share their community with the country!
What makes your local community unique?
